Match-Point Soccer and Tennis Scoring Systems

Men's First Division/Majors Registration

All men's First Division and Major teams must be registered by August 15th. The players must be registered by August 28th.

Madison United Takes First in the Men's Major Division Championship

Championship Game at Uihlein

Congratulations to Madison United. Milwaukee Kickers was up 1-0 in the first half. Madison United came back with 2 goals in the second. Milwaukee Kickers immediately responded making the score 2-2. Madison United ended scoring the last point in the last 5 minutes winning the game 3-2.

Women's Majors Is Back!

Back again, starting this fall.

Team Registration: August 1, 2009
Individual Player Information to WASA: August 28, 2009
1st First Game: September 6, 2009.

League will have a Fall and Spring schedule with 8 games each. If there is any interest, there will be indoor.


National Open Cup

In Men’s Open Final, Bavarians (WI) and Nebraska 402 (NE) kept the game close as the score remained 2-2 in the 90th minute. Both teams played on Saturday under a sunny sky with temperatures in the high 90s. The match went into overtime to only give two more goals for Bavarians making them the 2009 USASA Region II Open Cup Champions. Bavarians lost their chance to advance in last year’s qualifying when they were eliminated in quarterfinals by AAC Eagles (IL).

Their next game will be in Orlando, Florida, on July 24-26

Interesting Soccer Facts

The largest attendance for a soccer match ever was 199,854 people - Brazil v. Uruguay in the World Cup at the Maracana Municipal Stadium, Rio de Janeiro, July 1950.

The most goals scored by one player in a single soccer match was 16 - Stephan Stanis (France) playing for Racing Club de Lens in December 1942.

Soccer goalies didn't have to wear different coloured shirts from their teammates until 1913.

Spotlight on 2009 Wisconsin Soccer Association Hall of Fame Inductee: Karen Toussaint

Karen Toussaint (b. 1954, USA), Administrator, Referee Administration

She currently resides in Menomonee Falls, WI with her husband Noel. Karen was born in Chicago, IL in 1954. Karen began her career with the Wisconsin Soccer Association in 1970. Working with former WSA President Mike Kabanica for many years, she was the State Association's Secretary and Treasurer from 1970 until 2002, a tenure of 33 years. In 2001 Karen took the position of Office Administrator for the WSA State Referee's Unit. A position she currently still holds. For all those who have worked for and with the Wisconsin Soccer Association since 1970, Karen has been an invaluable source of knowledge and assistance. She has always been there, every ready to help and assist, and all to often, to help solve the problems that always occur.

With a total of 39 years of state level administrative service to Wisconsin soccer, Karen is one a very few long serving individuals who have directly participated in the growth and development of club soccer in Wisconsin to the success that it is today.
