Indoor Soccer League 2003 - Rules of Play

  1. The Field of Play: Kickers Astoturf requires either indoor soccer or tennis shoes.
  2. The Ball: Official Size 5
  3. The Players: Maximum number that can be suited for the game is 18. The maximum roster is 24. Six player per team on the field-one as the goalkeeper.
  4. The Officials: Are to be WSA Licensed Officials.
  5. The Game: It shall be 2x27 minute halves with 1 minute half time break. The clock shall run continuously except when a player has been injured and continued play could cause further injury. The referee will have sole discretion to stop the clock for injury or during the last minutes of the game if there is intent to delay play.
  6. Ball in and out play:Any ball touching the safety net surrounding the field shall be out of bounds. Balls will be kicked into play from the spot where they went out. High balls hitting the overhead beams are out of bounds and a free kick will be awarded to the opponent below the spot where the ball hit the beams. Balls hitting the beams above the goal are shall be restarted from the top of the penalty arch. Restarts are indirect kicks.
  7. Scoring: 1 point for the goal.
  8. Fouls and Misconduct: Fouls shall be called in accordance with the regulation outdoor rules. Yellow and red cards for: Boarding, sliding tackles, dissent, too many men on the field and delay of game. Too many men on the field will result in a 2 minute violation. Team will play with one less player for the 2 minutes or until opposition scores, which ever comes first.
  9. Free Kicks: All Free Kicks are indirect except penalty kicks.
  10. Penalty Kick: Any foul by the defensive team in their own penalty box will result in a penalty kick. Penalty kicks will be taken from the penalty spot.
  11. Goal Kicks: A Goal Kick will take place when the ball hits the safety net above the goal between the corner flags. Play is restarted with either a kick in or a throw by the goalie.
  12. Goal Kick (thrown by goalie):Ball can cross three lines.
  13. Corner Kicks: The corner flags will determine if the play is a corner kick. The corner kick will be taken from the white spot located near the corner flag. If the kick hits the beams aboave the penalty box, the ball goes to the defending team at the top of the penalty arc.
  14. Three Line Violation: If the ball is kicked in the air from inside of the 1st line and crosses 3rd line, ball with be awarded to opposition and placed at the center of the 1st line.
  15. Pass back to the goalkeeper:Like outdoors, a ball INTENTIONALLY played back to the goalkeeper may not be picked up. A deflection or misplayed ball will be ruled ACCIDENTAL.
  16. Red Cards and Cautions: A player who receives a red card for fighting or violent acts will be suspended per WASA rules. A player who receives a red card or second yellow card must leave the field and the player box area wwithin one minute and remain away from all areas of the field for the rest of the game.

    A 5 minute penalty will be assesses against the team who player receives the red card. The time will be served by another player from the team. Te player may enter the game only with the permission of the referee after the penalty has expired in a 2 minute penalty. The player with the least amount of remaining tme must enter the game first. Only one penalized player must return after each goal. (1-9-03)
  17. Substitutions: Substitutions of a player can be done only in the substitution area in front of the team benches. Substitutes should not enter field of play until field player leaves the field. A two minute penalty may be assessed for too many players on the field.
  18. Each team must leave the plaing area quickly so that the next scheduled game can start on the time.
  19. Wins shall count as 3 points, ties 1 point and losses 0 points.
